Another week over, another FRIDAY DROP!
Our first pick this week goes to Kingo Hamada MIDNIGHT CRUISIN’!
It’s funky brass and bass, and gentle flutes and keys all build a unique atmosphere that results in amazing, energetic and danceable tracks as well as softer, slower songs. Kingo Hamada is a master of expressing emotion in his music and he does not hold back on this album. Midnight Cruisin’ is hot off preorder and belongs on your shelf!
There’s tons of new arrivals, as usual - From new releases by Boards Of Canada, Genesis Owusu & underscores, to reissues of old faves like Amyl & The Sniffers, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, and so much more!
The restocks are hot as well, with MGK, Eddy Current, Tally Hall, Lemon Demon, Aldous Harding, Ninajirachi, and plenty more back in the racks for you to check out either in-store or online this weekend at Midland Records!

It’s CD DROP TIME!
This week’s pick goes to Duster’s CAPSULE LOSING CONTACT!
This Triple CD has got every slowcore-fan covered with a box set containing the late 90’s early 00’s era of the lo-fi slacker rock group that have since inspired a new generation of artists. From start to finish, you’ll soar into the distant loneliness of infinite space through twinkling guitars and soft vocals. Whether you’re a Duster fan or just discovering them, this compilation is a no brainer deal!
Too many CDs to count this week - new releases such as Yungblud’s Idols: Complete, Freya Skye’s Stardust, Dove Ellis’ Blizzard, and Matt Corby’s Tragic Magic, or Japanese Imports of artists you love, including: Geese, Frank Ocean, Ozzy Osbourne, Oasis, Taylor Swift and Lauryn Hill. Lots of the semi-Aussie K-Pop group Stray Kids and several Radwimps titles including the soundtrack to the popular anime Your Name.
Be sure to see the rest for yourself this week either in-store or online at Midland Records!

It’s Saturday and time to show off our CD DROP!
Our pick for this week is Joey Valence & Brae’s NO HANDS!
You may say we have picked this before, but not yet in this format so it still counts! It feels right at home on CD with its late ‘90s sounds of electronic rave, club, and big beat. Joey Valence’s instrumentation on this project easily makes it stand out as one of the best-produced albums of 2024. With a wide variety of samples used: From ‘70s funk songs, to ‘80s East Coast hip hop, to voice notes ripped from Monty Python sketches or Disney movies, which of course goes hand in hand with the silly and casual lyricism. It’s quite cool, and it deserves a listen and a place in your collection!
There’s plenty of other fresh CDs in - you’ll find brand new releases like the new Genesis Owusu Redstar Wu & The Worldwide Scourge, Jason Molina’s cult classic Songs: Ohia The Magnolia Electric Co., Killing Heidi’s Reflector, Simply Red’s Recollections, Metal Fingers (MF DOOM) VOL’S 1 through 9, and Aldous Harding’s latest Train On the Island.
And of course plenty of restocks including both Samurai Champloo - Impression and Departure - the Nujabes collabs with Fat Jon & Force of Nature - Evangellion Finally, Men I trust, Aphex Twin, Machine Girl, plus many more - so be sure to check it out for yourself as they’re available in-store and online RIGHT NOW at Midland Records!
