Then & Now — 29 Years Later 🤍
Some families you never forget.
Back in 1997, I had the privilege of photographing the Howman family — Veronica, Leo, and their four children. It was one of those sessions that reminded me exactly why I love what I do.
Fast forward to 2026, and that family of 6 is now a family of 22.
Same love. Same laughter. So many more faces.
When Veronica reached out to reconnect, we couldn't wait to make it happen. We headed to Point Walter — one of those quietly magical spots near their home that just feels right. Four children grown. Partners found. Nine grandchildren running in every direction.
Family portraits have been at the heart of my work for as long as I can remember, and what means the most to me is hearing that families genuinely enjoyed the experience — not just the photos at the end of it. Helping people feel at ease, and feel the moment is worth capturing… that's what I turn up for every single time. Reconnecting with the Howmans after all these years was a beautiful reminder of exactly that. https://fisherphotography.com.au/then-and-now

When was the last time you had a family photo that felt this relaxed?
This photo sums up what Fisher Photography is known for — easy-going sessions, gentle light and families simply enjoying the moment. As summer approaches, the weather at the beach is perfect: warm without being too hot, and the sea breeze usually behaves itself.
Some families like to have their photos ready for Christmas, others just want something genuine on the wall before the new year rolls in. If you’ve been thinking about it, now’s a great time to plan it.

Throwback to the RFBYC…
Fifteen years ago, I photographed the Bracewell family at a Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club — a fabulous backdrop of penned boats and that unmistakable blue water. They looked relaxed and happy, clearly enjoying the session more than they expected!
I often wonder where families are now, years down the track. Sometimes I never see them again, but the memories (and the photos) remain. Here’s to the Bracewells, wherever life has taken them. If you see any of them sailing, tell them I'd love to update their photos in 2025.

Back in 2015, I photographed my grandson Max as a baby—peaceful, new, and full of possibilities. Fast forward to today, and he’s creating his own world through cartoon videos on his iPad. The transformation is incredible!
There’s something about black and white photography that demands attention. Without the distraction of colour, the focus shifts to expression, light, and emotion—it’s timeless and powerful.
Do you find yourself drawn to black and white photos? Why?
And what about ‘then and now’ photos—do they make you reflect on how quickly time moves? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
If you’ve been considering updating your family portraits, I’d love to create something special for you. Book a session at home or in the studio and capture a moment you’ll love to bits. See more: https://fisherphotography.com.au/then-and-now/
