You won’t always hear about the rescues that happen quietly, but someone made it home thanks to this boat, and the team aboard it.

Stay safe when fishing for crays this summer πŸ‘‡

With some fairly poor weather conditions for this time of year over the last few weeks, Recfishwest is encouraging all crayfishers to keep safety in mind when pulling pots or diving and not take unnecessary risks.

TOP SAFETY TIPS:
1) Check the forecast before pulling your pots – particularly the swell;
2) Have someone help you lift pots and be mindful in small boats when retrieving pots that load distribution can significantly affect stability;
3) Use weighted or heavier ropes to ensure they stay below the surface away from boat props; and
4) When diving (scuba or freediving), always go with a friend, look out for each other, don't push your limits and use a dive flag.

No crayfish is worth risking your life – having a feed of crays for Christmas is great, but coming home safely is more important.

Hey Skipper.
Should something happen to you would your passengers know how to respond? Take the time before every trip to brief your passengers on where your safety equipment is located including when & how to use each item.
