SAVE OUR SUBURB - PROTECT YELLAGONGA
Woodvale “Commercial-Retail” Corner is set for State Government approval despite BOTH local governments rejecting it in the strongest possible terms.
Here’s what you need to know — especially for those who think an ALDI “on our doorstep” is worth the cost:
🚗 TRAFFIC CHAOS FOR WOODVALE
All traffic will be funneled into Woodvale Drive, with a dual-lane entry from Wanneroo Road sending even more traffic straight into our neighbourhood, past our high school!
• Exiting Woodvale Drive will become LEFT TURN ONLY
• Woodvale is already over capacity, yet the decision makings are ignoring this!
• A new set of traffic lights on Wanneroo Road will slow the entire area to a crawl
• What was the point of spending $80m on the overpass if more lights are added?
• And this is all APPROVED by MAIN ROADS.
🌿 YELLAGONGA REGIONAL PARK IS AT RISK
The development threatens:
• The heritage and environmental significance of the area
• Turtles and kangaroos
• Black cockatoo habitat
• Hydrology of the lake/wetlands
There is even talk of a 200-dwelling tower block proposed between Cockman House and Lily Farm, just 30 meters from the lake.
If one tower is allowed, more will follow — which would be a death sentence for the lake and its ecosystem.
🏛 HERITAGE AT RISK
Margaret Cockman would be outraged to see how little value is being placed on her gift to the community.
Cockman House deserves protection — not overshadowing and crumbling foundations.
📣 THE COMMUNITY HAS ALREADY SPOKEN
1,263 residents told the State Government NO to another ALDI here that’s 86.5% opposed.
Yet the assessment meeting is being held in the CITY and is not open to the public.
Why? when Warwick Quarter assessment had an in-person meeting with only 850 objections.
Why does 1,263 get ignored?
So, what do we do — roll over and accept it? NO !
The State Government must listen.
