Not sure where it’ll end up yet, but this one means a lot to me.

What I Am

I see your face slowly change
Wait for Wednesday when I’m myself again
Half the week I’m technically waiting
’Cause my daughter, you’re the best of what I am

What I am

I watch the earth slowly frame
What it is to be a human again
Troubled waters,
You’re the stillness on the shore
The reminder why I paddle in for more

Look out to the sea, Grace
It’s where I learn that everything
We give grace comes back in return
And forever we learn who we are

“Please”

Everything is going to be okay
Even if it’s not
The country is not in a war
As I look at all the useless s**t you just bought

Oh wow
What a hard time it is
To have a stable home
And live like this

Do you know there are poor kids
With nothing to eat
As you sit and overeat
In your custom seat

And can you sit on the floor
And give it all up
So someone else can survive
Barely on love

And can you tear down the towers
The invisible ones
Most can’t see

And actually find who you are
Without having to please

Without having to please

Everything is gonna go left
When your hand always reached right

Did he leave you alone with kids
To chase a governed light?

Well actually, that’s probably
What he learned from his folks
But is that truly an excuse

To leave everything behind
For a mortgage of abuse

Choose your poison
Choose your mind’s disease

And find who you are
Without having to please
