Aluminium is an amazingly versatile material found in almost every part of our daily life from your drink can, to your smart phone, to your push bike, to that electric vehicle you’ve been thinking about. 😃

It's also a material of choice for countless artists including Perth-based Erica Zaino who has used our end product to create an amazing piece at this year’s Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe. 🎨🏖️

Erica’s sculpture, Labyrinth – Labirinto, is a deserving recipient of the 2023 Alcoa Aluminium Award. Check it out for yourself at the free exhibition at WA’s Cottesloe beach, which runs until 20 March.

Thank you!

Congratulations to Western Australian artist Erica Zaino for winning the Alcoa Aluminium Sculpture Award of $5000 at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe.

Her interactive work, ‘Labyrinth - Labirinto,’ features aluminum with a mirror finish that generates a figurative journey of our thoughts that sometimes stay trapped, other times they are able to find their way out.

The $5,000 award celebrates Alcoa's commitment to supporting artists who use aluminum in creative and innovative ways.

As the Founding Sponsor and Significant Partner of Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe, we are grateful for the continued support of Alcoa Australia, an integrated bauxite miner and alumina and aluminum producer.

This award is part of Alcoa's ongoing support for the exhibition.

Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe runs until 20 March.
