Professionally treated for rust, and two coats of high-temperature stove black paint, plus one extra coat of mat black high temperature enamel for long lasting protection.
These grates were originally hand-cast in Britain during the late 19th century for open fireplaces, designed to hold coal or wood while allowing air to circulate for efficient burning. Prices for inbuilt gas fires like this one from ( ONLY $350! )This fire was heavily rusted due to being close to the coast and situated in an outdoor entertainment area and definitely needed some TLC! The unit was stripped back sanded cleaned and painted with a heat resistant metallic paint. You definitely won't be using your fire this summer but it's something you look at every day!
