I still remember years ago, while working at a wedding with Elise, she told me she was going to ask Catherine to marry her. To then be there on the day was pretty special. Love these two humans. What a day.

Lately I’ve found myself in a couple of situations where I’ve felt almost directed towards something by more than just a conscious decision or coincidence.

In both scenarios I learnt some massive things about myself that I’m not sure I may have ever come to learn otherwise.

It’s a real mind shift to entertain the idea that maybe we don’t have as much control as we think we do. To lean in and submit to situations because something bigger than us is putting us exactly where we need to be when we need it.

I couldn’t help thinking the same thing on Claire’s wedding day.

I was a full bottle on parents being unwell. I knew exactly how she felt, it was hard to watch because I knew that pain. Of all the people it could have been it was me.

Coincidence or not?!

“M, I don’t know how to put into words just how amazing you are.

You arrived on scene to me navigating a very unexpected scenario with my mum being unwell.

You were a voice of reason and sound advice when I felt overwhelmed. You shared your vulnerabilities with me and I felt so comfortable with you.

It was a really difficult day and I just did not know what to do but I knew if I cancelled my quiet soft spoken mum would never have forgiven herself. She begged me to not cancel. Plus there was a whole other family to consider who had travelled far.

I am so thankful she is still with us. She was able to be discharged on Thursday.

We will formally say our vows once Mum has recovered well enough to enjoy it. We were just so thankful to have someone like you with us on the day xx
