Ever wondered why someone becomes a vascular surgeon?

For me, it was a combination of factors: the opportunity to work closely with patients, the challenge of managing emergencies, a passion for research, and a personal drive to make a difference.

Each patient is unique, and I believe in tailoring treatments to individual needs. There's no one-size-fits-all approach here.

Chronic stress doesn't just affect your mind—it impacts your vascular health too.

High stress levels can lead to increased blood pressure and inflammation, which may harm your arteries over time.

Incorporating stress-reducing activities like deep breathing, meditation, or a short daily walk can support your vascular system.

If you’re young, active, and get calf pain while exercising — but scans don’t show a blockage — you might have popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES).

This happens when a muscle compresses the artery behind your knee during movement, reducing blood flow.

It’s rare and often missed. But if recognised early, surgery can relieve the pressure and restore circulation.

Don’t ignore exercise-related leg pain, especially if it improves with rest.
