When we first met 15-year-old Alex, he was doing it tough.

Living with ASD and hyper ADHD, he found it hard to connect with support workers, didn’t like leaving his room, and mostly kept to himself. Conversations were minimal, and so was his interest in activities. The world felt loud, fast, and overwhelming—and retreating was his way of coping.

But we didn’t push.

We met him where he was.

With guidance from his behavioural support practitioner and OT—and a whole lot of patience, consistency, and compassion—things slowly started to shift.

Now?
💪 Alex hits the gym twice a week
🏃‍♂️ He goes running and actually enjoys it
🧩 He’s opening up, exploring his interests, and letting us into his world

And the best part? His progress hasn’t just helped him—it’s given his parents breathing room, too. A bit of rest. A bit of hope.

Right now, we’re working on the next big step: building his confidence to catch public transport independently. It’s a big leap—but one we know he can make.

These are the moments that remind us why we do this work.
