Meerilinga Kingsley

As we move into Makuru, the traditional Noongar season of rain and cold, we welcome the darkest blue time of the year. Occurring during June and July, Makuru is the coldest and wettest season in the South West of Western Australia, with winds shifting from the west and south, bringing heavy rainfall and occasionally even snow to the higher ranges. Nature continues to thrive during this season, with beautiful native flowers such as the blueberry lily and purple flags emerging, while the weeping peppermint begins to bloom as Makuru draws to a close. We look forward to exploring the changes this season brings and deepening our connection to Country through learning about the rich Noongar seasonal calendar. 🍃💙🌧️

Last week, our Meerilinga Kingsley Bindi Kindi and Pre-Kindy children came together to participate in National Simultaneous Storytime. 📚✨

The children enjoyed sharing the story together, engaging in meaningful discussions, and celebrating the joy of reading as part of this nationwide event. It was a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of literacy while building connections across our programs.

A huge thank you to Westcoast Siteworks Works for generously donating their time and resources yesterday to help kick off our new native community garden project 🌿

Their team did an amazing job removing the old existing materials and helping prepare the space for this exciting new community project. We are so grateful for their support and community spirit, and we can’t wait to share the transformation with everyone as the garden comes to life!
