A great topic that we always like to come back to is this concept of Sleep Debt!
Although our sleep needs can shift with work, social life and everyday demands, cutting back on sleep can build a sleep debt that can be tough to recover from.
Sleep debt happens when there is a gap between the sleep our bodies NEED and the sleep we ACTUALLY get. Even small nightly losses can add up quickly, impacting our memory, reaction time and overall cognition.
While we can make up SOME lost sleep, we can never fully repay a large sleep debt, nor can it be saved in advance.
Let's make sure to be intentional about the debts we take on. Sleep shouldn't be one of them!
