Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) is one of the most important milestones in the Motherwell Automation system integration delivery process. It’s where Motherwell Automation prove the solution performs as designed, before it ships to site, helping reduce risk, avoid rework and supports a smoother commissioning and startup.

A comprehensive FAT is the final line of defence before deployment. Motherwell Automation engineers rigorously validate hardware and software against the project requirements, using realistic simulation and structured test procedures to ensure the system is ready for the next phase of delivery.

What we verify before equipment leaves our workshop:

• Hardware integrity: Panel build quality, I/O mapping and device verification.

• Software logic: Code validation against project requirements and functional descriptions.

• Communications: End-to-end connectivity (e.g. Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP and related networks).

• Functional performance: Alarms, permissives, interlocks and sequence simulation.
