In the past couple of weeks I have been asked to assess/fix a couple of jobs that another person had dealt with.

On the first job the older gentleman had been charged $140 cash and it is my belief that the tradesman didn’t actually perform a regas at all with the system being left pumping hot air.

On the second job the guy was charged $1200 to perform remove and install new compressor, and regas twice, again the client was left with the system not functioning properly and when I removed the refrigerant I found it to be propane/butane.

Obviously, this person is not qualified or licensed to perform the work he is undertaking.
I find this very disturbing as who knows how many vehicles this has been done to and if there was an accident or a leak in one of these vehicles any spark could ignite it.

I am not out to name and shame or put reputable people out of business but please beware.

Please check recommendations/comments on the local pages before using new people.
Also beware that this person uses several aliases using the same photos.

CI have reported this to the Police and motor vehicle authorities.

SUMMER HINT

Many vehicles come with a recirculation button on their AC controls, but its proper use can be confusing. A good rule of thumb is to use it during summer and turn it off in winter.

This button works by recirculating the air already inside your car instead of pulling in hot air from outside. On very hot days, not using recirculation makes your AC work harder to cool the outside air, which is less efficient. By circulating the cooler cabin air, you can chill your vehicle faster and ease the load on the AC system.

A handy tip: if your car has been sitting in the sun, roll down the windows and turn off the recirculation for the first minute. This allows the hot air to escape before you switch the recirculation back on.
