Here’s a glimpse from our Annual Office Retreat at Tiger Nest Camp, Paro, for the Bhutan Thimphu main branch. This gathering was not only about strengthening team bonds, reenergizing our spirits, and empowering leadership, but also a heartfelt gesture of gratitude from our management team to all our hardworking counselors and staff. Through shared experiences in the serene hills, we reaffirmed our commitment to staff retention, personal growth, and appreciation for everyone’s dedication—ensuring every member feels valued and inspired for the journey ahead.

Sometime back, I saw a video of Bhutan Toilet Org gifting a portable toilet to late Lopen Gaylong. Late Lopen Gaylong was a good man. He served as Dzongkha teacher in Gedu Higher Secondary School where I was fortunate to be one of his students. Lopen came from Dratshang Lhentshog and was unmarried and lived alone.
Lopen would host poor and underprivileged students at his house. He would let students coming from far away villages stay at his house. He was a kind and generous man who did it all with no expectation.
In his later life, Lopen suffered from stroke and Kidney failure requiring continuous care. I visited him multiple times, and despite all his struggles - Lopen was grateful and accepted the changes with positivity.
Despite all the hardships, his only wish was to be able to handle his bodily functions with dignity. His greatest asset in this moment was a portable toilet gifted to him by Bhutan toilet org. Seeing this, it was a moment of reflection for me- the importance of being able to handle your bodily functions with dignity and how it affects your well being- both psychological and physical.
I had a greater perspective about Toilet and its function. And I truly understood the great work Bhutan toilet org and PaSsu Diary was doing. I want to encourage everyone to support this effort and contribute in whatever possible way you can. SMART Education will always do our part in giving back and helping our community.
Mr Kipchu has seen a video of his former teacher, late Lop Gaylong using a bedside toilet we have provided through our Toilet of Compassion project and ever since he has been meaning to do something with or for us.
Today, he visited us for the first time and made a long term commitments to support us in media related works, training collaboration and resource mobilization through his company SMART Education Consultancy & Placement Firm and his personal networks.
As a tendrel for long and sustained support and partnership, he made a donation of Nu.50,000. Thank you 🙏 As shared with you, Kipchu, we will invest it in the next toilet bus we are working on.
