Often, when people think about enclosed orchards, they picture small landholdings in higher-rainfall areas down south. While it is true that many of the EZBuild kits we supply end up in places like Dunsborough, Busselton, Margaret River and Denmark, plenty of them are built a long way from there too 🌾

Birds cause problems for anyone with fruit trees right through the Wheatbelt and up into the Midwest. An EZBuild structure works just as well in Kojonup, Kalbarri or Kunonopin as it does in Yallingup. The netting we use is high-quality and UV-stabilised, and we provide a pro rata warranty of 10 years. Many customers have orchards that are still going strong after fifteen years, even in dry and sunny areas ☀️

These photos are from a kit built in Kojonup. The enclosed area measured 12m x 30m, and once it was finished, the owners felt relieved that all the effort of planting and watering their productive garden was finally protected. With the birds kept out, Kelsea and the crew could enjoy their home-grown produce without losing it to the local wildlife 🍎🌿

When Craig called to ask about a custom EZBuild structure, he already had a clear plan for what he wanted to create 🐓🦚

Based in Busselton, he needed an enclosed orchard area that would safely house some special residents. His set-up includes a peacock, a peahen and six ISA Brown chickens. We supplied a custom kit to enclose a space measuring 12m x 22m, and Craig added corrugated iron around the base to make the structure fox-proof.

Since sharing his photos with us, Craig has added a great selection of fruit trees 🍏

🌳 Two plum trees
🌳 Two white nectarines
🌳 Apricots
🌳 Pomegranates

We cannot wait to see the next round of photos from this very productive garden and its feathered residents. Craig was kind enough to say, "Great products and great to deal with you lot."

Happy growing 🌱

With all the winter rain, the ground is softening up, which makes it the perfect time to start building your own EZBuild orchard structure. When the soil is soft, the first stage is much easier, and it's all about getting the poles into the ground.

We say it takes about three weekends to get your EZBuild up and complete. The first weekend is for the poles. Having access to a post-hole digger will make your life a whole lot easier, but before you start digging, we always recommend calling us. We can help you check where your poles should go and talk you through the layout.

There is also a little prep work to do on the poles, and it is much easier to get this done before they go in the ground.

If you are keen to get started, give us a call and get your kit organised.

We are often asked what is involved in building your own EZBuild Orchard Structure. It is a pretty straightforward project, but you do need some practical experience.

This EZBuild is a custom-sized structure measuring 16 x 17m. The build usually takes about three weekends.

On the first weekend, you get the poles into the ground. A post-hole digger is really needed at this stage. You can do it without one, but it will make the job slower and much more physical.

Once the poles are in, the next weekend is spent putting up the wires that support the netting. For this stage, you will want a wire strainer. It makes the job easier and the end result much better.

On the final weekend, you put the netting up. This is the perfect time to get some friends or family involved.

That is it. In three weekends, you will have built your own fruit cage to protect your harvest from the birds.
