✨ Introducing Celeste ✨

Celeste arrived into foster care a couple weeks ago is still feeling quite overwhelmed, so for now we're giving her all the time and space she needs to settle in at her own pace.

She's already making little bits of progress and has started giving our hands a curious sniff/occasionally even letting us give her a few gentle pats on the head. While she's still too nervous to be handled, we are happy even with these baby steps (when she first arrived we couldn't even go near her!).

As she's still adjusting, we haven't yet been able to take her for her vaccination and health check. However, we've already noticed what appears to be a painful corneal sequestrum affecting her left eye.

Unfortunately this will require specialist surgery with a veterinary ophthalmologist with an estimated cost of around $3,500.

For now, we are trying to help Celeste feel safe and trying to earn her trust - everyday we spend quiet time sitting with her and offering her treats. Once she's feeling a little more confident, we'll start lubricating eye drops to help keep her eye comfortable and prepare her for the treatment she'll need when surgery goes ahead.

She's had a big few weeks but we are here to support her every step of the way. ❤️
