This record, still stands to this day.

The plane that flew for 65 days in a row without landing was the Cessna 172 known for its world record for longest continuous flight. This impressive achievement occurred in 1958-1959.

Record details:

Flight duration: 64 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and 5 seconds (about 65 days).

Closes: From December 4, 1958 to February 7, 1959.

Location: Outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Pilots: Robert Timm and John Cook.

Aircraft: Specially modified Cessna 172 Skyhawk.

How did you manage to keep so much time in the air?

1. Air refueling: The plane was supplied with fuel from a truck that was driving along a straight desert runway. Lower a hose with a pump to refill the tank during a low-level overflight.

2. Food and supplies: Delivered from the truck in a corner.

3. Minor repairs: They are done in the air. They even once provided an oil pump with tools on board.

4. Hygiene and rest: Very limited. The pilots turned to sleep in the narrow cabin.

Why did it hicieron?

The flight was part of an advertising campaign to promote the Hacienda Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The objective was to get attention with an extreme hazard, and achieved it with growth.

This record has not yet been surpassed and is an impressive testament to human resistance, air logistics and determination.
