It is with great sadness that AUSTSWIM acknowledges the passing of Meredith King, a remarkable educator, mentor, leader and lifelong advocate for swimming and water safety.
For more than 40 years, Meredith dedicated herself to strengthening the aquatic industry and supporting the development of high-quality swimming and water safety teachers.
Her contribution to AUSTSWIM was extraordinary. Through leadership roles, volunteer service, professional development, mentoring and industry advocacy, Meredith helped shape the organisation and positively influenced countless teachers and aquatic professionals across Australia and internationally.
Meredith’s passion for learning, commitment to excellence and willingness to challenge the status quo helped drive continuous improvement within AUSTSWIM. She believed deeply in the importance of teaching from the heart and recognising every learner as an individual.
As Meredith once shared:
“Teach from the heart, not by rote. Every person is an individual; teach them, not the curriculum.”
This philosophy captured the essence of Meredith’s approach. She didn’t just teach swimming; she inspired people, developed leaders and strengthened an entire industry.
AUSTSWIM extends its deepest condolences to Meredith’s family, friends and the many people whose lives she influenced.
Her legacy will continue through the teachers she mentored, the programs she helped develop and the safer communities created through her dedication to swimming and water safety.
