This year marks 50 Years of NAIDOC – five decades of honouring the strength, cultures, achievements and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

At Monash, we celebrate the enduring legacy of Uncle William Cooper, widely recognised as the Father of NAIDOC. His leadership in calling for the historic 1938 Day of Mourning helped lay the foundations for the movement we honour today.

We’re proud to be home to the Cooper Institute, where we continue to advance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership and education.

To mark this milestone, explore our ‘50 Years of NAIDOC’ exhibition featuring annual NAIDOC posters spanning the past 50 years.
