Stronger referral pathways, better communication and more connected care all start with having optometry represented in the right conversations.

Queensland State Lead Prajna Vidyasagar recently represented Optometry Australia at the Brisbane South PHN Allied Health Engagement Workshop, delivered in collaboration with Allied Health Professionals Australia.

The workshop brought together allied health professionals to explore opportunities for stronger multidisciplinary collaboration and improved healthcare delivery across the region.

Prajna highlighted the important role optometrists play in primary healthcare, advocating for stronger communication with GPs and allied health professionals, more seamless referral pathways and better integration of optometry within digital health systems.

These conversations are an important step towards greater recognition of optometry within Queensland’s broader healthcare system.
