I used to believe that if I didn't walk them every single day, I was failing as a dog mum... but I was wrong.
Social media can make you feel like you’re only a "good" pet parent if you’re out on adventures all day, every day. I used to feel so much guilt if we skipped a day, even when life was chaotic or the weather was miserable.
But here’s what I’ve realised: Rest is just as productive as a walk.
Some days, life gets in the way. Some days, it’s pouring rain in Melbourne and Juno and Scotch would much rather stay tucked under their blankets. And some days, they actually benefit more from a "sniffari" in the garden or a long afternoon snooze than a forced walk around the block.
I’ve stopped measuring my worth as a dog mum by the number of walks we tick off the list and started measuring it by how happy and relaxed they are at home.
Do you ever feel "dog mum guilt" when you have to skip a walk?
