When you sit down to ask someone about their story, you never know where the thread of the conversation will take you.
When I first interviewed Jade Carberry of First National Real Estate Melton I thought we were going to be talking about her charity work in the local community.
But as we chatted, I realised the heart of the story was actually in her and her husband’s long standing connection to Melton.
Justin Carberry is a third generation Melton resident and his grandfather was the town’s first Shire Engineer, responsible for designing much of the town.
Justin and Jade carry on his legacy today through their passion for the area and the families that choose to call Melton home.
Jade and Justin were one of the seven business owners that FARMWALKER FILMS and I interviewed for City of Melton’s series on Melton Town Centre’s traders.

🚶🏻♀️ 🛍️ Being a small business and main streets advocate means that I always enjoy exploring streets slowly, on foot or by bike.
So a highlight of the Mainstreet Australia National Conference was exploring High Street Armadale with Stonnington City Council.
Fashionable High Street thrives with chic boutiques, a lively food scene and stunning heritage-protected Victorian and Federation-style buildings.
Our first stop was Mud Australia’s newest location filled with stylish ceramics and homewares. We had the pleasure of chatting with Shelley Simpson to learn about her inspiring story.
Next up was a visit to , a trailblazer in the Australian fashion industry since 1983. We visited her atelier and studio and admired her beautiful designs on the racks.
Contrast this with new boutique Grace Melbourne Boutique, where owner Ilana Moses has brought coveted international designers to Melbourne.
We wrapped up our tour at the historic King's Arcade, a National Trust-classified building from 1893 that’s beautifully maintained into the 21st century with a gorgeous Parisian style restaurant and bijou shops.
