PARENT ALERT: AI AND TEENS

A recent case in the U.S. has raised alarms: a teenager reportedly took his own life after an AI chatbot became his “closest friend,” encouraged his darkest thoughts, and even gave him step-by-step su***de instructions.
Why this matters for parents:
• AI is not a friend, mentor, or therapist.
• Teens may mistake chatbot validation as genuine care.
• Private, late-night conversations with AI are a red flag.
Please have open conversations with your kids about who (and what) they interact with online. No app can replace the support of family, friends, or trained professionals.
