Early morning surface prep to beat the heat 🌞

I haven’t been very good at sharing many of my projects this year but I’ve just finished this one, inspired by classic Aussie signwriting aesthetic.

I visited Viti Levu, Fiji in August to see where my mum went to school (my grandma worked at the duty free shop on Nadi airport back in the day) and to travel, meet people and be in nature. We saw an alarming amount of coral washed up on the beaches but so many wild birds and tropical plants in the rainforest. We stayed in a home stay on the coral coast and ate fresh mangos from our host’s garden. We also spent a lot of time sitting at bus stops chatting to local people who asked us about our lives and told us about theirs. This saying came up a lot (there were no timetables and you have to be patient), so I painted to keep in my studio it as a reminder of the wonderful experience. 🐠
