Kittens grow rapidly, so monitoring their body condition is important for optimal health.

A healthy kitten should have ribs that are able to be felt but not prominent, a slight waist when viewed from above, and a small amount of tummy fat. They should feel firm and muscular, not bony or with a swollen belly.

Regular weigh-ins at home or at the clinic are a great way to track their development during those crucial early months. 🐾

URGENT: Cat/Kitten Carer Needed Mareeba (Animal Rescue Tablelands)

Animal Rescue Tablelands Inc in Mareeba is urgently seeking a new cat/kitten foster carer to take over from our current carer who had dedicated her time over the past few years. This is a volunteer position, and we provide absolutely everything you need to get started.

You will receive:

Outdoor enclosures

Litter trays

Carriers

Cat toys

Scratching poles

All supplies needed for fostering ready to go

There is no cost to you. ART covers:

All food

All vet work

Ongoing flea, tick, heartworm and worm treatments

At the moment, we have 6 kittens and 1 adult cat needing care. They are fed twice a day, and litter trays are cleaned twice a day. You can also spend time sitting with them, talking to them, and helping them socialise, they absolutely love the company.

Sadly, if we are unable to find a new cat/kitten carer by the 30th of April 2026, we will have no choice but to pause all cat and kitten rescues and temporarily remove cats from our Last Litter Program, as we cannot continue these services without a dedicated carer in place.

All you need is some time and a big heart.
