‼️ Increased severity flood warning for residents 👇

🌧 Major flooding is possible at Mirani overnight Monday into Tuesday.
🌧 Moderate flooding possible at Mackay from Tuesday morning, with the high tide.
🌧 A severe weather warning is current for Central Coast and Whitsundays and parts of Herbert and Lower Burdekin and Central Highlands and Coalfields Forecast Districts, including the Pioneer River catchment.

Since 9am Sunday, rainfall totals in excess of 200mm have been observed across the headwaters of the Pioneer River catchment in the Finch Hatton area.

Heavy to isolated intense rainfall is forecast for remainder of Monday into Tuesday which is likely to cause further rises during the next few days.

River levels are elevated along the Pioneer River and are currently below the minor flood level. Higher flood levels are possible as the developing weather system moves over the catchment.

The situation is being monitored closely and forecasts will be revised as required. The next warning will be issued at 4pm.
