Try photographing:

β’ Flowing water

πΈβ¨ **Refractions Workshop with Elayne Geltch** β¨πΈ
A huge thank you to Elayne Geltch, ably assisted by her husband Peter Michelson, for presenting a fascinating and detailed Refractions Workshop for our members.
From setting up backgrounds and lighting through to shooting techniques and composition, Elayne shared a wealth of knowledge on what to look for when creating successful refraction images. One of the wonderful aspects of this style of photography is that it can be as simple or as complex as you choose, allowing plenty of room for creativity and personal expression.
The workshop was colourful, creative, and a lot of fun, and I'm sure the morning group enjoyed it just as much as we did. We were also pleased to welcome several members of Mackay Camera Group to the afternoon session.
Workshops like this are quite rare in Mackay, and Creative Shots Photo Club is always looking for opportunities to introduce our members to different photographic genres, techniques, and creative experiences.
Thank you again, Elayne and Peter, for sharing your time, enthusiasm, and expertise with us. π·π

π Celebrating Our Young Photographers π
One of the most rewarding parts of the Mackay Show Photography Competition is seeing the incredible talent emerging from the young people in our region.
Photography encourages creativity, observation, storytelling, patience, and problem-solving skills. It teaches young people to see the world differently, build confidence in their abilities, and express their unique perspective. Entering competitions also helps develop resilience, encourages personal growth, and provides valuable experience in presenting their work to others.
This year's Youth Section featured some truly outstanding images, making the judges' task both challenging and enjoyable.
Congratulations to our Champion Print winners:
π Champion Print β Youth Secondary
"Griffen" by Flynn Kynaston
π Champion Print β Youth Primary
"Breaststroke" by Amelia Dolzon
Pictured here is Flynn with his wonderful image, Griffen, a beautiful portrait of his cat that captured the attention of the judges and earned the Champion Print award in the Secondary Section.
A huge congratulations to all the young photographers who entered. Every entry represents creativity, effort, and the courage to share your work with others. We hope to see many of you continue your photographic journey in the years ahead.

π Congratulations to our Creative Shots members on their success in the Mackay Show Photography Competition! π·
A special congratulations to Wendy Coad on being awarded Champion Print β a wonderful achievement.
Congratulations also to our other award recipients:
β¨ Lenore Hansen
β¨ Rob Crutcher
β¨ Christine Williams
We are incredibly proud of all our members who entered this year's competition.
While awards and placings are always exciting, photography competitions are about so much more than winning. Putting your work out there for judging can be daunting, especially when you're sharing images that you have created with passion and pride. Every member who entered deserves recognition for having the courage to participate and challenge themselves.
Competition is one of the best ways to expand your photographic horizons, receive valuable feedback, learn from others, and continue growing as a photographer. The improvement that comes from regularly entering and reviewing results is often remarkable.
πΈ Pictured here is Wendy being congratulated by our Club President, Karen Monk, on receiving the Champion Print award.
Congratulations to everyone who entered and helped make this year's photography section such a success. π
