Investing in our future doctors πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ

A huge congratulations to Peta Antypas, a final-year medical student at the Launceston Clinical School and one of our 2025 Foundation Grant recipients. Next year Peta, will begin working as a junior doctor at the Launceston General Hospital and she’s already achieving incredible career milestones πŸ‘

Her research project, supervised by Dr Lauren Giles, Dr Rohan Church and Dr Bodie Rodman, will investigate stroke in Northern Tasmania, one of the leading causes of death and disability in Australia.

As someone who grew up in Northern Tasmania, Peta understands the challenges regional communities face in accessing timely healthcare. By identifying where and why these delays occur, her research sets out to inform targeted health promotion, including public education tailored to the needs of rural and culturally diverse communities and reduce pre-hospital delays. πŸ’™

We are so proud to support emerging clinicians like Peta who are shaping the future of healthcare in Tasmania. πŸ₯

Heading out to Agfest Field Days, Tasmania? Make sure you pop into the University’s HealthStop tent and speak to one of our College of Health and Medicine students.

We’ve had a busy morning already with plenty of blood pressure checks, finger plastering & hand cream making. Future star athletes have impressed with their jump and grip strength abilities and the footy handball competition has left us wondering if we’ve just witnessed the next greatest AFL superstar!

Stop by and have a chat and wander through. Located at the corner of sites N96 & 1135.
