Javavan farewell….

Sunday 27th April marks the end of an era for John and I as we say goodbye to the Javavan that we have owned and absolutely loved for the last 15 years, as we pass this wonderful business onto its new owners, who will continue to work it in Karratha.

I remember the day, like it was yesterday that John came home and said
“I want to buy the Javavan”
And I said “What’s the Javavan” and the
rest is history.

Yes it’s hard to believe these years have passed and this very much loved coffee van has been a huge part of our lives and a household name amongst many of you in Karratha, Dampier and Wickham.

Whow how we’ve grown in that time and learnt so much.

You may remember us parked at the Karratha Visitors Centre and then in 2015 with very little notice we were told we could no longer trade there, so we moved on and relocated to Dreamers Hill, who would have thought this move would be so welcomed and supported by you all.

Then of course our world was turned upside down in 2020 when we all had to deal with the epidemic of COVID.

We decided to remain open and John and I in our ‘bubble’ continued to serve coffee and treats, while many of you worked from home and isolated from family and friends. However we soon learnt that even the coffee businesses had restrictions on supplies and we were no different, with only being able to purchase 2 bottles of milk a day ! This was not going to work for such a busy coffee van…

After lots of discussions and without hesitation many of you came to our rescue and delivered your allocation of milk to the Javavan in return for coffee.
Your generosity did not stop there, many of you ‘Paid it Forward’ which meant others received a free coffee paid by you in times of need….it was a wonderful thing to see faces light up when you were the recipient of this kind gesture when we said “someone has paid for your coffee today, enjoy”

On reflection this is what we are going to miss the most - The Karratha community and you our beautiful customers.

We must mention too, our incredible network of Javavan girls over the years, Leah, Elle, Jaz, Paige, Hannah, Mik, Laina, Kim and Tash who have worked incredibly hard in our business over the years and made it so successful and of course part of that team is Mel, who never ceases to amaze us, you have been the longest serving Javavan chick and you just seem to know when to pop in and help us when we need you .…💜♥️
Thanks, to all you gorgeous ladies, we have loved watching you all grow, get married (some of you even met your partners at the Javavan ! ) and had your own little families.

To our own family, Jackson and Paris when times were tough you guys stepped up and helped out, served, cleaned, restocked and even learnt some barista skills in the process, which we really appreciated 😌 thank you my darlings !

And YOU our customers, there would be NO Javavan without you coming in and supporting us everyday, even over the last 4 years as we have created a more seasonal approach. Your support never ceases to amaze us, so a HUGE thank you, to each and every one of you ♥️
We have made so many amazing friendships through the Javavan which we will treasure.

And last but not least, John thank you
for your patience in teaching me
( I know that hasn’t been an easy task some days 😂) and of course encouraging me to come on board and being part of your dream. It’s been such an incredible journey doing this together, we’ve been a great team and had an absolute ball.

We’re going to be extremely sad saying goodbye and leaving Karratha but a new chapter awaits for us, which we are excited about.

So in saying that, farewell for now, we will be back to catch up socially we promise, as we still have many friends here.

So come and see us tomorrow (Sunday)
at Dreamers Hill where we will be serving coffee, our famous cheese rolls and croissants, we hope to see you there, for our last hooray 🌿💚
