AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system. It will send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices during disasters such as bushfires, severe weather and public health emergencies.

Before AusAlert is ready to use in October 2026, the system needs to be tested across Australia on July 27th, at 2pm. AusAlert messages share important information, but they could make hidden safety devices easier to find.

If your phones, tablets or smart watches are turned on, an AusAlert may:
• make them vibrate
• play a loud siren-like sound for 10 seconds
• turn the screen on automatically.

If you think it might not be safe for you or someone you care about to receive the AusAlert national test, at least one hour before the test time:
• turn your safety devices off OR
• switch them to aeroplane mode (if you have it) AND
• leave them off for 24 hours

Recently, some of our staff and community members went on the Inala Safety Walk, an event to highlight the importance of safe, walkable spaces.

As a group, we all walked through a designated route, and paused at different key locations to have discussions and share observations and insights on feelings of safety, and ideas for improvement.

We will be compiling the data to present to local government and businesses to ultimately advocate for change to increase safety for those walking in Inala.

Today is World Refugee Day!

Each year, 20 June marks World Refugee Day, the international day to honour people who have been forced to flee.

Together, we can champion their right to seek safety, build support for their economic and social inclusion, and advocate for solutions to their plight.

In Inala, we are so lucky to have such a diverse community that includes refugees. We will lucky to work and live alongside refugees everyday ❤️
