🎣 You've heard of the School of Rock... Albany has its own School of Fishing!

Supported by a Recfishwest Safe Fishing Community Grant, hundreds of Albany Senior High School students () are enjoying safer, more engaging fishing through the school's outstanding fishing program. 🙌

What was once a corner of a bus shed is now a purpose-built fishing clubroom (check out the video 🎥), complete with secure rod and tackle storage, improved safety equipment and educational resources.

From safe boating and rod building to fish biology and fisheries management, students are learning practical skills that will stay with them for life.

To celebrate the program's 10th anniversary, almost 150 students will compete in this year's Kalgan Classic black bream competition. Now that's an extra-curricular activity! 👏

We're proud to support programs like this that help young people get outdoors, build confidence, fish safely and develop a lifelong connection with our great outdoors.
