ANSTO's National Science Week Hackathon | ANSTO 17/07/2022

ANSTO’s National Science Week Hackathon 2022 is running a FREE Design Thinking Mentor workshop on Friday 29th July 13:30- 15:30. The workshop will cover a design thinking process, some tools to use in each phase, tips and tricks of mentoring and discussion time with other mentors. If you are looking to sharpen or add to your skill set this is a great opportunity to learn something new. Beginners welcome! And you do not have to be a ‘designer’ either

This is a part of the ANSTO’s National Science week Hackathon 2022. If you are looking for a place to practice your skills you can sign up as a ‘Design Thinking Mentor’ as well! Every year Design Factory Melbourne students and alumni have the opportunity to be a Design Thinking mentor for the ANSTO Hackathon.

Mentor in a low-pressure environment where mentors can practice interpersonal skills such as presenting, giving feedback and engaging with a diverse range of participants in an Australia wide initiative. Mentors who are open-minded are the ones who truly flourish. It is a great experience for your CV and you are featured on the ANSTO Hackathon website.

Whether you do the hackathon or just the workshop, you will walk away with new knowledge and increased mentoring confidence

We’re so proud of the work of Stephanie Hartono, a third-year professional intern who just completed her time with us at Design Factory Melbourne.

Stephanie is studying a double degree in Games & Interactivity and Animation, and undertook a 12-week professional internship as part of Swinburne University of Technology's Work Integrated Learning toward Moonshot #1: Every Swinburne learner gets a work experience Stephanie was tasked to work on the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) Project for Swinburne research, and to visualise hydrogen technology in an engaging and visual format. Her comic, “When the water splits” has been featured in the Swinburne newsroom and on the VH2 Instagram page to target 18-24-year-olds and educate about a simplified version of the production of green hydrogen.

What makes up a typical workday? It can differ vastly from creating new ideas for a program launch to framing customer needs in a compelling way for a project proposal. How can we then make each day as productive as possible?

Over the last two years, we at Design Factory Melbourne have gathered a range of productivity perspectives to the core work we do around innovation. Now, to get 2022 off to a good start, we are launching our Daily Practice of Innovation: Small actions, big shifts book.

This book is a collection of insights and activities to find new perspectives in your daily work. In it, we explore how to set the foundations for a productive day, leverage the most of your time, find opportunities hidden in plain sight, boost energy, and gain new perspectives at work. The activities are brief and require no prior knowledge, so you can jump right into the doing.

We also love to thank Jaiden Gusti, our DFM alumnus, for the design of the book!
