Easter 2025: A Family Getaway to Lake Arragan & Red Cliff Campgrounds in Our Jayco Expanda Caravan

This Easter long weekend, our family embarked on a memorable adventure to the Lake Arragan and Red Cliff Campgrounds, nestled within the stunning Yuraygir National Park on the NSW North Coast. Towing our trusty Jayco caravan, we set out from Gold Coast, eager to immerse ourselves in nature and create lasting memories.

🌿 Destination Overview

Located approximately halfway between Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay, the Lake Arragan and Red Cliff Campgrounds offer a serene coastal escape. With 89 grassy campsites—many shaded and all within a short stroll to the beach—this area is a haven for campers seeking both relaxation and adventure .

🚐 Setting Up Camp

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the gentle sounds of the ocean and the rustling of paperbark trees. We chose a spacious, shaded site at Lake Arragan, perfectly suited for our Jayco caravan. The proximity to both the lagoon and the beach made it an ideal spot for our family.  The Expandas quick setup meant that we were in a camp chair enjoying the view with a cold beverage in no time!

🏖️ Activities and Exploration

Our days were filled with a mix of relaxation and exploration:
• Beach Fun: The kids delighted in building sandcastles and splashing in the waves, while we enjoyed the panoramic coastal views at Red Cliff.
• Lagoon Adventures: Lake Arragan’s calm waters were perfect for canoeing and fishing. We even spotted a variety of bird species & plenty of friendly kangaroos. 
• Hiking: We tackled a portion of the coastal walk to Brooms Head, rewarded with breathtaking vistas and the invigorating sea breeze and a hot fresh coffee and meat pie from the local shop

🍳 Campfire Evenings

Evenings were a highlight, as we gathered around the campfire to share stories and roast marshmallows. The clear night skies offered a mesmerizing display of stars, a rare sight for city dwellers like us.

The campgrounds are well-equipped to ensure a comfortable stay:
• Drop Toilets: Clean and conveniently located.
• BBQ Areas: Perfect for communal meals and meeting fellow campers.
• Drinking Water: Easily accessible from the campsite . 

Our Jayco Expandas amenities, including a compact kitchen and cozy sleeping quarters, complemented the campground’s facilities, making our stay both comfortable and enjoyable.

Our Easter weekend at Lake Arragan and Red Cliff Campgrounds was nothing short of magical. The combination of natural beauty, family-friendly activities, and well-maintained facilities made it an unforgettable experience. We left with hearts full of joy and a unanimous decision to return next year.
