It was a great demonstration on the capability of the Mahindra Scorpio and the preparation of Total Driver Australia to achieve this world first.
One of our goals was to demonstrate the importance of preparation, both vehicle and environmental. So many people subscribe to all the accessories, lift kits, huge tyres, bullbars etc. They are overweight before they even begin.
There is no substitute for good technique, learning how to use the vehicle, be a part of the vehicle and letting the vehicle do all the work. 13hrs, 21m and 5 sec was an outstanding achievement as we did it unassisted, no support crews, just Ben, myself and the Mighty Mahindra Scorpio.
Our accessories were the , an outstanding piece of equipment that allowed us keep the tracks clear, and for the rubber that allowed us to operate at great speed, low pressures over extraordinary distances and temperatures.

The Mahindra Scorpio N, is now the fastest, toughest SUV to ever cross the Simpson Desert, recognised by Guinness World Records.
We did everything that everyone said not to do, for reasons they had not thought of. To put this into perspective, Mercedes took five Gwagons into the Simpson and four came back on recovery, one was a military spec.
The average person takes 4 days and three nights to make this trip, being bogged, rolling their vehicles and breaking components are key challenges that all parties face.
The recovery fee for when things go wrong out there, is $10,000 alone.
The environment is harsh and extreme.
But at the same time, it is beautiful, wonderous, peaceful and tranquil.
