Why is it crucial?

Keeping this space clean isn't just about tidiness; it's about ensuring the safety and efficiency of your elevator system and technicians work on them.
Did you know? Dust and rubbish in the pit can create and/or hide mechanical/electrical issues and even create 🔥fire risks!. This typically is far worse during new 👷construction, renovations, refits, or repair works within buildings.
On the aesthetics side if you have a glass lift shaft a visually dirty lift pit is a bad reflection on the asset owner/business.

Isn’t this included in my 🔧Maintenance contract, you may ask?

This depends on the type of contract you have. A typical simple lift pit clean should be included in most contracts but in some instances, it is not. Certainly, when the pit is dirty from external influence due to building renovations, refits, or even water ingress this would be deemed chargeable by lift maintenance companies. In other hospitality-driven venues food scraps often end up in the lift pit. Creating a different kind of hazard ☣️ by attracting 🐀vermin and 🦨bad odours.

For lift companies, this is extra 🕜time they have not allowed for during their maintenance schedule. In some instances, they do not have the time for their technicians to spend the time doing this.

What else can you do?

After a flooding or other water events, it is important to remove water within the lift pits. It is highly likely that your lift will have stopped running or be turned off. 🌊Water in a pit will limit any fault finding or maintenance to be conducted due to the risk of electrical shock with electrical components underwater. Clean steps can provide access to the lift pit to facilitate the removal of the water and if requested can remove the water. There will need to be consideration of how the water is disposed of if it is full of contaminants ☣️ (i.e. oil).
