Hello Springbrook W**d Busters!

We have our monthly bush regeneration meetup this Sunday 21st June and we are at a NEW LOCATION! We are moving up the mountain to higher altitudes for the next few months, so please take note of our new site.

Bilborough Court Bush Regeneration Meet Up
Sun June 21st

We are moving up the mountain to Bilborough Ct to help connect some regrowth to remnant. This is a site that one of our individual members, Ceris Ash has been working on for many years. You will be able to see her inspiring work and what can be achieved by a few hands! If you haven’t yet met Ceris, you are in for a treat! Ceris is an eco-warrior of the mountain with extensive ecological knowledge of Springbrook and a dedicated advocate for protecting nature.

⭐️ NEW OPPORTUNITY ALERT ⭐️

Ⓜ️+Ⓜ️ Introducing the new Monitoring & Maintenance Crew (or the M&M Crew as we like to call it). This is an extra monthly morning weekday meetup devoted to the monitoring and maintenance of both plants and birds. It's only a 90 min session and has a light physical component.

🌱 Monitoring and maintaining regen and restoration sites is essential for ensuring the work is successful and continues to improve. By monitoring the trees we have planted and the w**ds around them not only are we better equipped to know what actions to take next but we can also monitor the success of the site. Secondly, birds can be great indicators of ecosystem health. By monitoring the birds around our site as well as other regrowth and remnant sites, we will be able to get an indication of the success of our restoration as a healthy ecosystem over time.

Our first M&M meetup is this Wed 10th June. Here are all the details!
πŸ‘‡πŸ½

πŸš™ 7am - Meet at the Settlement Day Use Area - Induction into the M&M Crew.

πŸ¦β€β¬› For this event we will be doing 2 x 20 min bird surveys (one across the road near the campground, the second at Carrick Creek restoration site).

🌱 Following this, we will be counting the trees planted at our site (from March and Dec 2025) to monitor their success.

πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎ Whilst we may do a little bit of light w**ding at our site, we will only be hand-w**ding, so the only tools required for this session are gloves. All experience levels are welcome. If you have any binoculars, please bring those as well (although they are not compulsory).

For any queries, please reach out to springbrookw**[email protected]

🌱 A small but mighty crew! Never underestimate the power of just a few motivated people. These guys tackled invasive w**ds - making a big dent in our Carricks Creek Restoration site. This work will help free up some of the natural regeneration occuring at the site and pave the way for our spring planting where we can continue our restoration efforts of this threatened ecosystem riddled with w**ds.

πŸ’¦ And it happened to be the only time the rain stopped - it was meant to be!!

What w**ds are you dealing with in your area?
