G’day, what’s going on? I wanted to do a post to let ya’ll know about some big changes that have happened recently with Rcc carpentry and my life in general. A couple of months ago, my wife and I packed our stuff onto our ute and trailer and moved from Victoria to Tasmania. After a couple of weeks in quarantine we moved into our new rental in a small coastal town called Dodges Ferry, about 40 mins outside Hobart.
Backtracking a bit, I started my own business a couple of years ago, six months after finishing my apprenticeship, and although it’s been challenging at times, I’ve really loved the experience. I’ve really loved working with clients to find out what they want from their projects and then seeing them happy with the final product. I’ve been really blessed in that God provided constant work nearly the whole time between working direct with clients and subcontracting.
So obviously with the move to Tas my work has changed substantially. I’ve decided to put my business on hold for a while, and I’ve had a really great opportunity to work for my brother Matt and his company “Calic Building and Carpentry”. I’ve been a part of his team for the past month or so and it’s been a really great fit. The type and standard of work that Matt puts out is high quality and the sort of work I find really satisfying to do. I have some pretty cool opportunities to be a part of and sometimes run bigger projects than I have been the last couple of years.
So, I can see myself going back to self employment in the future, but for now I’ll keep posting on this account about the projects I’m working on here with Calic Building and Carpentry (Check out their page to see their past projects)
