Great post by Withcott Rural Fire Brigade - we are also receiving a lot of queries from landowners around wanting to burn, what this entails, and requesting our assistance to facilitate burns at the moment. See below for the procedure, and if you’re still unsure, feel free to send us a message and we’d be happy to help explain the process.

We get questions on a regular basis regarding the procedure to obtain a permit to burn.

Whether it's a bush block, a small paddock or a stack, you need a permit to burn if it's more than 2m in any direction. These permits are free.

See here for more information:

You must contact your fire warden to obtain a permit to burn. To get the details of the fire warden for your location, go here :

If you're in the Withcott Rural Fire Brigade area, we can assist with planning and performing permitted burns. Now is a great time to think about what you need to do to improve the fire safety of your property, before summer is upon us.

Remember in an emergency to ring 000.
