We find the 2 most important things for a drone program are:
1. A Chief Pilot's oversight and supervision of their operations, and
2. Simple, fast, yet compliant fights for busy pilots.
So in our latest release, we've been working hard to nail these 2 things:
π Pilot Managed Flight Log Sync π
When managing a large number of pilots, there can be a lot of administration to keep the flight log syncing up-to-date.
If using the Field App is not an option, then the next best thing is to delegate the job of updating sync passwords down to the pilot. Our latest release enables this!
π Improved Automatic Mission Creation π
We've made generating missions from flight logs even more flexible. You can now choose how flight logs get turned into mission. You can either:
- Suggest missions,
- Automatically assign to missions, or
- Generate complete missions from flight logs based on the collection source the flight log comes from.
When combined with the pilot managed flight log sync, you can have missions generated and assigned to the correct pilot by giving each pilot their own DJI Cloud Sync - completely automated!

With new FAA LAANC approval, U.S. pilots can now use FlyFreely authority sharing and automation tools to make operating under waivers easy.
Capabilities include the ability to configure authorised UAS and Pilots on a per wavier basis with workflows that are tailored to the waivers requirements.
Additionally an approval step can be introduced to give the waiver holder the ability to approve, modify or reject proposed operations.
This feature offers full confidence in operations management, particularly for businesses with complex, multi-jurisdictional needs.
Through FlyFreely, waivers (along with the associated pilot qualifications, UAS requirements, forms, checklists, and maintenance schedules) can be shared between organizations via automated workflows for all staff.

We are excited to announce that we have officially entered the United States with FAA approval as a UAS Service Supplier (USS) for the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) services.
This marks a significant milestone in FlyFreelyβs mission to support drone pilots around the globe with software tools to simplify the management of drone operations, compliance and fleet.
Apart from accessing LAANC authorisations US based organisations will be able to access FlyFreely extensive range of capabilities to support both simple and complex operations in one platform.
For example Part 107 waiver holders will be able to manage authorised UAS and Pilots on a per wavier basis with workflows that are tailored to the waivers requirements including an approval step. FlyFreely even includes the capability to enable waiver sharing between organisations.
US based drone program managers will be able to leverage the platform's full suite of automation tools to manage pilot currency, monitor conformance, maintenance schedules plus much more.

Can the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) be from outside the organisation (i.e. outsourced)?
Well...
For context, the CRP is a key individual responsible for the safety of an organisation's drone operations.
While the regulations specify the responsibilities and qualifications of a CRP, they do not explicitly state that the CRP must be an employee of the ReOC holder.
Therefore, it IS possible to have an outsourced CRP, provided they meet CASA's requirements and can fulfil their responsibilities effectively.
Some factors that would go into determining if the individual can meet their obligations would be the number of organisations they hold the role of Chief Remote Pilot with and the volume of Remote Pilots under their control. For example if they were overseeing 10 ReOC's with 200+ pilots in total it would be unlikely they would be able to fulfil their duties for all organisations simultaneously.

Most commercial drone users AREN'T dedicated pilots - it's supplementary to their core role. So we've automated a workflow for every type of mission to take out the risk and guess work by...
- Allowing only qualified pilots to access specific missions (ReOC, EVLOS, Nights, etc).
- Prefilling most of the forms and steps for simpler, repeatable missions.
- Auto-rules checker alerts to make sure each mission meets the conditions.
- Auto-logging of flight activity for maintenance hours.
- Auto-sync flight logs - to catch all data and make sure nothing is missed.
