Inspired and encouraged by Aunty Arron Yarran to tell a story, I'm finally laying my design out on canvas using Noongar symbols and, with permission, Aunty's symbol for spirit ancestors.❤️

This is not my usual headspace....intuitive art doesn't include planning my design or an intense desire of 'getting it right' before I start painting.
There's some discomfort for me, but I know that's where the magic happens.✨️

The 'feels' as I prep this canvas are full of connection, gratitude and belonging.
So curious how well I'll achieve my vision, but
the only way to find out is to keep pushing through. 🎨🥰

❤️ Sometimes you just need some playtime.❤️

I've used watercolour ground to prep a canvas and then let the beautiful Schminke colours do their thing. Using watercolour ground to layer and detail has been fun to explore. Not sure where it will go but enjoying the journey.🎨

Edited.... Session has been cancelled this week.

🎨 Next session is 10am, Sat 28/02/26.🎨

Looking forward to some chilled creative chatter as we work on our latest projects.

Testing out new ideas for my artwork submission to the Building Bridges exhibition at MaOchre Indigenous Art Gallery this year.

Planning the layout with pastel pencils on acrylic, and then attempting to 'draw' with modelling paste and colour shapers on canvas. Yep, it was trickier than expected🤣 but I reckon I can make it work on the 'real deal' canvas with a bit of finetuning!

Those familiar with my artwork know I'm typically guided by intuition and trust in the process for the journey of my artwork to be completed. 🫣🤪❤️

Aunty Arron has been gently nudging me into story telling and using traditional symbols in my artwork for some time now. She has this way about her that ignites a spark of curiosity within me that I keep circling back to. ❤️ Feels perfect to bridge it all together for an aptly named exhibition.✨️

I'm excited to push myself with new techniques and mediums. Time will tell if I can replicate that within my heart and soul onto the canvas in the way I hope to. 🤞🎨

Anyone else trying new things in their art creations and feeling brave enough to share? 👀
