Christmas Gift Ideas for the children or kids in your life:

Anna Walker is one of my favourite local picture book illustrator authors. If you have ever been to one of PD's I always talk about Peggy, a book about a fearless adventuring hen, and Mr. Huff. Any of Anna's books deserves a spot under your Christmas tree.

❤️Put Love and kindness into your day.❤️

This is the love and kindness metta meditation I use for myself at least a couple of times a week. I have been teaching a modified version to children for 4 years now.

Thank you for sharing Dr. David R Hamilton.

This is my wish for you today. It is the Tibetan Buddhist, ‘Loving Kindness’ meditation, or ‘metta bhavana. In the Pali language, metta means ‘love’ (in the universal, non-romantic sense).

First, we say these words for ourselves; that is, ‘May I be filled with loving kindness, etc’. Then we say them for a loved one, then a neutral person, a difficult person, then all sentient beings, three times for each in the standard form of the meditation.

The meditation encourages us to generate feelings of love, kindness and compassion.

It’s a very well-studied meditation in science. It causes physical brain changes in regions associated with empathy (left side of pre-frontal cortex and the insula). It also produces an anti-inflammatory effect through improving vagal tone, which affects the inflammatory reflex (the nervous system’s powerful anti-inflammatory mechanism).

If you want to learn more about these physiological effects, you can find them in two of my books - ‘The Little Book of Kindness’ (Gaia, 2019) and ‘The Five Side Effects of Kindness’ (Hay House, 2018).😊
