📣 From 1 July 2026, significant changes to Australia's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws will come into effect, expanding compliance obligations to industries including real estate, conveyancing, legal and accounting services.

While these reforms largely operate behind the scenes, property buyers and sellers may notice some additional steps during the transaction process.

The purpose of the changes is to strengthen the integrity of Australia's financial and property markets by helping to prevent money laundering, terrorism financing and other financial crimes.

Real estate professionals, alongside conveyancers, lawyers and accountants, will be required to undertake additional customer due diligence and verification procedures as part of property transactions.
