This Sunday at National Gallery of Victoria, we're putting on a fun fundraiser that's hard to explain. It's happening from 10am to 5pm at part of . See you there!

The long version: The NGV is setting up a pirate radio station in front of the gallery. We're taking over the broadcast on Sunday. We'll have all kinds of guests and the whole thing is free to watch. Check the program link or read on below ...

We're doing a Tell-a-thon. You donate to Wildlife Victoria and people tell you things. About writing! Our Tell-a-thon help desk will be set up next to the radio station at the St Kilda Road entrance. If you decide to book a chat with a Tell-a-thon panellist, don’t worry: it won’t be broadcast. Your donation buys you a one-on-one conversation with a word nerd.

10.30–11.30am
Cryptic Crossword Advice

On air: a cryptic crossword tutorial with Antonios Sarhanis of the DA Trippers. Crosswords and instruction sheets provided! Or make a donation and take a question to our Tell-a-thon panel: Sahra Stolz, Jordan Trew and Dennis Grauel.

11.30am–12pm
When Words Go Rogue

We interview Nicholas J. Johnson, a magician and best-selling author who’s working on a book about what people say when they don’t want to say anything.

12–1pm
Editors on Deck

On air: Louisa Fitzhardinge – comedian, cabaret performer and huge grammar nerd, chatting punctuation and performing hits from her legendary stage show ‘Comma Sutra’. Need one-on-one advice? Make a donation and talk to our panel, Louisa Syme, Maddox Gifford and Martina Hoffmann from RMIT's Professional Writing and Editing course.

1–2pm
Bull**** Rare Radio Hour

Warren Taylor and James Hibberd present WORD JAZZ. Think Ken Nordine and the Fred Katz Group and then keep thinking.

2–3pm
Everything Is Copy: Words and Money

On air: we talk to Brodie Lancaster and Copywrong to Copywriter about the copywriting life. Need one-on-one pitching or freelancing advice? Donate to book a chat with our stellar panel, Wendy Wends, Sophie Kalagas and Mitch Parker.

3pm
Limericks

We interview Dr Justin Clemens about his book of limericks, out now through Surpllus. Then Dr Ken Gelder reprises his legendary limericks speech. Don't miss it.

We've launched two February classes to raise funds for people and wildlife affected by the Victorian bushfires. Two steps: email to let us know you're interested, donate at least $100 to one of the charities we suggest and send us the donation receipt to confirm your enrolment. For dates and instructions, head to our class calendar here. We'll keep fundraising until all the class spots are taken up.
