Chelsea Shops

While searching for something else we found a review of Melbourne suburban centres done over 20 years ago (including Chelsea). Chelsea was more like an inner suburb in how people got to the shops. In particular a lower percentage drove and a higher percentage walked. The analysis found that 30% of Chelsea shoppers walked to the shops - about the same as Lygon St and Sydney Rd in Brunswick. The Melbourne average, in contrast, for walking was about half that at 16%.
