Tessa has been with us longer than most, and every day we wonder how a dog this loving is still waiting. She’s the kind of girl who thinks cuddles are a full-time job. If she had it her way, she’d spend her mornings curled into your side and her evenings stretched across your lap. She’s soft, affectionate, and loyal in that classic Staffy way, once she loves you, she really loves you. She’s also one of the friendliest faces at the shelter. Tessa is usually our unofficial office assistant, she sits with our receptionist, Chris, greeting everyone who walks through the door with cuddles, a happy wiggle, and an immediate roll onto her back for belly rubs. She takes her “customer service” role very seriously. But Tessa is also a big, strong girl who’s still figuring out the world. She needs a home that understands her, one that can give her structure and guidance. She’s protective of her space, lets you know when someone’s near the fence, and she’s still learning how to handle the excitement of seeing other dogs. Leash manners? Still a work in progress. Livestock? Not her thing. What we see every day, though, is a dog who wants to get it right. A dog who listens. A dog who learns. A dog who softens the moment she feels safe. Give her consistency, give her patience, give her love, and she will give you everything she has in return. Tessa isn’t looking for just any home. She’s looking for someone dog-savvy, someone confident, someone who can guide her while letting her be the affectionate, goofy, cuddle-obsessed girl she truly is.
