VEHICLE: 2016 Peugeot 5008
ISSUE: Lack of power with trouble codes P0405 and P1461
DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION: We have a 2016 Peugeot 5008 2,0 Diesel in the workshop with the engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated. Trouble codes stored in the fault memory relate to the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. We have had a look at the EGR system and cannot see a blockage anywhere. Have you got any ideas?

Yes, the fault you described has been reported before for the Peugeot 5008 with DW10FD engine code and ML6C transmission code. The cause of the problem is an unsatisfactory design of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve assembly. Fit a modified exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve assembly (fig. 1.1.). To complete this repair the engine control module (ECM) will require reprogramming with upgraded software from the manufacturer. Carry out road test to ensure the fault has been eliminated.

VEHICLE: 2015 Nissan Qashqai

ISSUE: Intermittent self-activation of alarm system siren

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION: We have a 2015 Nissan Qashqai in the workshop that we are struggling to diagnose. The alarm siren intermittently sounds for no reason. We have carried out some basic checks but cannot find the source of the fault. Is this a known fault?

Yes, we have had reports of this fault on Qashqai models. The fault is due to an unsatisfactory design of the alarm system in car movement sensor. Remove interior lamps assembly and fit a new alarm system in car movement sensor (fig. 1.1.). This should eliminate the fault.

VEHICLE: 2015 Honda CR-V

ISSUE: Squeaking noise from the rear when pulling away

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
A customer of ours is complaining that their 2015 Honda CR-V is making a squeaking noise from the rear of the vehicle when pulling away. We suspect the rear differential to be at fault but are reluctant to replace the rear differential as it is an expensive part. Have any other Honda CR-V owners reported this squeaking noise before?

Yes, the fault you describe has been reported before on CR-V models with four wheel drive. The cause of the squeaking noise is due to an unsatisfactory design of the four wheel drive coupling pump. Fit a modified four wheel drive coupling pump, located on the rear differential (fig. 1.1.). Carry out road test to ensure the noise has been eliminated.

VEHICLE: 2010 Ford Fiesta: Doors intermittently will not unlock when using the remote control

ISSUE: Doors intermittently will not unlock when using the remote control

DIAGNOSIS & SOLUTION:
A customer of ours has a 2010 Ford Fiesta and they are complaining the doors intermittently fail to unlock when using the remote control. The door locks have not failed whilst the car has been in our workshop so we are struggling to diagnose the fault. Can you help?

We have had reports of this fault during the cold weather season. The likely cause is a frozen door lock mechanism due to water ingress. Remove the retaining screw from the door lock mechanism (fig. 1.1.). Dry out the door lock mechanism. Apply manufacturer's specification aerosol grease, available from Ford parts department, to the door lock mechanism via the door lock mechanism retaining screw hole for 2 seconds. Refit the retaining screw to the door lock mechanism (fig. 1.1.). Repeat this procedure for the remaining door(s).
