FRDC is unveiling a stellar lineup of research partners at FishTank, an interactive session for research presentations at Seafood Directions in July 2026.

Next up: PhD Student and Abalone aficianado Darcy Beveridge!

Abalone viral ganglioneuritis (AVG) has been devastating abalone farms with repeated outbreaks since 2005. Darcy is diving deep into abalone genetics, researching how to breed stronger, resilient stock so that Australian farmers stand a fighting chance against this destructive virus.

At FishTank, he will show exactly how his team set up AVG infection trials within La Trobe University’s high-tech facility.

Australian seafood exports deliver more than premium products, they showcase Australia’s reputation for sustainability, quality and trust.

Through the FRDC-supported Australian Food and Wine Collaboration Group, long-term trade relationships across key Asian markets including South Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia are flourishing.

By working together across sectors, the program is helping position Australian seafood on the global stage and creating new opportunities for future export growth.
