Stepping In Resumes

Sorry for the radio silence lately but there have been some BIG things happening here.

One of those things has been preparing for the long journey home! Everything travelling by freight is being packed and starts its journey home tomorrow! It is actually happening!

As a result of this big change Stepping In Resumes is currently closed and will be closed until 2022 as I focus on getting home!

I got so excited writing back to a client today after they got the job they were chasing that I nearly misspelled my name.

It's one of those amazing feel-good, exciting days here today. How is your day shaping up? Is it time to make a career move?

After chatting to clients in wintery Canberra and Melbourne today I am ending my first full day back in the office here.

I only have 6 months more to enjoy this view and having this beach as my local hang.

When we accepted this adventure we had absolutely no idea that we would be here during a world wide pandemic. So far away from family and friends. In a country where we don't understand the health system and don't have an established network. Where everything is similar enough to feel familiar but so different at the same time.

We had so many plans. Most of which we have realised will never actually happen.

But I guess that is life.

We make plans, try to figure out what we want to do, but then things take an unexpected turn or just don't go to plan.

That doesn't mean all is lost. It just means we may need to pivot, refocus, dream big, dream smaller or just look at what we do have rather than what we don't.

I know you are underselling yourself. When you look at a job ad, you see the skills you don't have rather than looking at all the other skills you do.

Back in the office after being on holidays today and I have only just finished going through all the emails that were waiting for me in my inbox. So many people looking for a change whether it be a step up, a step across or a step into something better.

I was watching TV Show with my sons yesterday when one of the people said "I hate my job."

To which my 13 year old said "Why? Why are in you in a job you hate?? Find a new one!"

I have always told my sons that you don't ever need to plan for a forever job. You can change what you do as much as you want!! You have an entire lifetime to explore what is out there and what you want to do!

Do things you enjoy, find a job that you like and that you enjoy right now, maybe you won't enjoy it 10 years down the track but at any stage you can make a change. If the market is slow it may take a little while, but any step in the direction you want to go is a step in the right direction.
