ACT Weather Watch
06/06/2025
❄️ Who's ready for some snow this long weekend? The ACT can expect to see snow falling from Saturday right through to Monday.
A low-pressure system is bringing cold and wet conditions to the region, with snow expected to develop on Saturday. This is our first major cold burst for the year. I've put together a forecast for each day below.
🔹 Saturday 7th June - Expect windy conditions and cold temperatures. Showers will be developing from the morning and increasing as the day goes on. Snow is likely to fall in the ranges to about 1200m, possibly a bit lower late in the evening. Falls of 0cm to 5cm are likely.
🔹 Sunday 8th June - This is the day where it's all going to be happening, snow is likely to fall to 700m with some solid falls of 5cm to 10cm about the ranges. This is mainly going to happen in the early hours of the morning, with showers easing back from late morning.
🔹 Monday 9th June - Some lingering showers on Monday will see an additional 0cm to 5cm fall about the ranges, possibly as low as 800m. Conditions will slowly be easing as the low-pressure system begins to move into the tasman.
⛄ There is a very slight chance of some flurries in parts of Canberra on Sunday morning. However, it's always very difficult to forecast whether Canberra will see snow and currently, conditions are borderline, so be prepared to be disappointed.
‼️ As always, our mountains are very dangerous in snowy conditions, and you need to be prepared if you are going to head up into the Brindabellas to enjoy the snow. Check out the links below for information to keep safe:

❄️ Snow is possible this coming week, with a strong low-pressure system driving winter weather across eastern Australia.
At this stage, the snow level is looking likely to fall to between 800m and 900m on Monday. Accumulations between 1cm to 5cm are possible across the mountains, with some locally higher accumulations to 10cm. There is a very small chance that we could see some lower snow levels, but this is unclear at the moment.
Tuesday should see some more snowfall, but the snow level may rise to 900m to 1000m.
This forecast is extremely uncertain, there is pretty much no agreement between different forecast models. There are likely to be some changes to the forecast over the coming days so keep your eye on the situation.
It's cold this morning Canberra! Temperatures dropped to -6.2°C at the airport overnight.
